As many people know Rescue Center Costa Rica is privately owned and financed. Although our goal and mission are spectacular and life-saving it is often difficult to pay for medicines, cages, and veterinarian and maintenance staff. These are all vital needs and we pay for them through donations and volunteers. Unfortunately, as a result of COVID-19, it was a difficult year ensuring the animals were safe and happy. However, we worked hard and we did it!

The government of Costa Rica gives us no financial support or help. They deliver sick, injured, or homeless animals, and the kindness of our donors, volunteers, and owners keep the operation running and growing. We love our business and we intend to rescue, rehabilitate and release as many animals for years to come.

With this in mind, we are happy to announce Rescue Center Costa Rica, Inc. has been approved for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in the United States to operate as a real nonprofit operation.

What is 501(c)(3) status?

Being "501(c)(3)" means that a particular nonprofit organization has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a tax-exempt, charitable organization.

What is a charitable purpose for a 501(c)(3)?

The exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals.

How does this affect me as a potential donor?

Charitable gifts made to nonprofit organizations that are officially recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as having 501(c) (3) status are considered to be tax-deductible contributions.

Why are donors so important to your nonprofit organization?

They trust your organization. Donors come to your nonprofit because they believe in your mission. They stay with you because you prove yourself worthy of their trust and commitment. Transparency and dependability are key. When you say you're going to do something, be true to your word.

We have set up a specific page on the website on the top menu called 501 Donation(c)(3). You can register and make a donation direct to our paypal account.

All donations will go to surgeries, medicines, new enclosures, fresh food, superior staff, and much much more...

We appreciate your kindness, compassion, and most importantly your generosity. Animal lovers around the world all share a common goal. Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. Help us accomplish that vision.

Kind Regards and Pura Vida!
