Sponsor Bambi for as little as $1 a month
Bambi, our baby deer, was rescued from a meat market here in Costa Rica. Her mother had been butchered and sold for meat leaving poor Bambi as an orphan. She was very shy and scared of humans and wouldn't even accept special milk from a bottle.
The vet team was extremely concerned and nervous. However, over a few weeks, she relaxed and began eating from our hands and even let us stroke her fur. We built her a small temporary enclosure with a small covered room to protect her from the elements. We have plans in the next few months to build a large deer enclosure so we can ensure she has plenty of friends to spend time with daily.
At the time of her arrival x-rays showed she had a fracture in one of her hind legs and torn tendons in her knees. Neither injury healed correctly so we needed to keep her calm and in the small enclosure to limit her mobility. She has a very healthy diet and enjoys drinking from the milk bottle. We are working hard to get her as healthy as possible so when the new large enclosure is ready, she can run, jump, and play and be happy with her new friends.
Please consider sponsoring Bambi to secure his/her food, medicine, and love!
