Costa Rica Animal Wildlife Program

The Costa Rica Animal Wildlife Program is located in Turrucares, Costa Rica just a short drive from the Juan Santamaria airport. The owners of the program, who are both longtime animal lovers, have built their sanctuary on an 8.5 acre property snuggled in the middle of a tropical rainforest.

The program aims to rehabilitate animals in their natural habitat and give them the best possible conditions to recover from their physical and often mental wounds. New animal arrivals are examined by vets who determine what action needs to be done for each individual situation. Medical care, treatment and sometimes surgery are all handled by a group of permanent staff members. Volunteers often get to work with the permanent staff if they possess qualifications needed to handle these delicate responsibilities.
