Macaw Animal Wildlife Program

The Macaw Animal Wildlife Program is located about 1.5 hours from Juan Santamaria airport in a town called Miramar. The program rescues, rehabilitates and releases macaws back into the wild. The macaw plays a key role in keeping the forest healthy and their rehabilitation and release back to their natural habitat has kept them from extinction in Costa Rica.

The Macaw Animal Wildlife Program also participates in the education of university students. They have worked with the National Technical University (UTN), University of Distance Education (UNED), and the National University (UNA).

The program focuses on the macaw but rescues and rehabilitates other animals as well including but not limited to jaguars, ocelots and monkeys.
