Maui, a two-toed sloth, was brought to us at Rescue Center from another operation here in Costa Rica that needed space as a result of full occupancy. He is a very large sloth with a cleft lip but a very healthy appetite for vegetables.
We know a little about his past. He was electrocuted by power lines which is a very common occurrence for sloths throughout the country. Luckily, the other Rescue Center was able to save him and he is a healthy and happy sloth but will not be released because he still suffers from minor physical problems as a result of the accident.
However, don't worry because he will be well-fed and very happy in the new sloth garden!
